I am Ilse, born in the year 73 of last century (jeezs, how old that sounds!!) and I have been living in the always warm Gran Canaria for more than 20 years now. At that time I fell in love with a Canario on Fuerteventura, tried to settle down in the Netherlands, which turned out not to be a success, and then moved to Gran Canaria.
What did I do?
Upon arrival, I started working as a tour guide for Holland International and then for a number of other travel organisations. I experienced a lot with guests, I can write a book about it! During my 2nd pregnancy I got fired. Of course I didn't just let that pass over me as a purebred archer, so I started a lawsuit, got a bag of money and then started my own business in accommodation rental. In the meantime divorced, and co-parenting over our girls. But every disadvantage has its advantage: that means a lot of time every other week to invest in my company.
Until now...
No homesickness! Of course you miss your family and friends back home. Especially when someone is ill, you realise that you don't live next door, but if you have to, you will be at the place of disaster within a day. Also it starts to tickle a bit as soon as spring starts in the Netherlands, everyone gets on their bikes and can be outside again. Everyone cheerfully and exuberantly enjoying everything in bloom.... But yes, I can be outside all year round and whether it's August or January, we can always go to the beach for a day.
So:
20 years on the island, and enough inspiration to tell you about my life here, my experiences and my favourite places to share with you! So follow my blogs, vlogs and posts!
